Our History

Discover the history of The Bell Foundry and how it became an important part of the local area.

From Eayre to Taylor

The Bell Foundry began with the Eayre family in the 17th century as a small business in Kettering.

It later passed to the Taylor family, who helped it grow and build its reputation.

John Taylor moved the foundry to Loughborough, where it continued to develop and become well known.

This shows how it grew into a successful and recognised company.

Early Bell Production

In the early 1700s, the foundry began making bells for churches across different areas.

One example was a commission from Kettering parish church, showing the skill of the foundry at the time.

This early success helped build its reputation and allowed it to grow further under the Taylor family.

Building for the Future

In the 1700s, the bell foundry site was developed and expanded as the business grew.

This shows how it was becoming more important over time.

These changes helped prepare the foundry for its later growth under the Taylor family.
